Greenback Search keeps your information private

We never share information about you without your consent. We never sell or market lists with identifiable user information to others. There are two ways in which we regularly share information that you give us:

• Search terms that you enter are passed through to our partners: Although the nature of our service requires us to send your search terms to our search partners and advertising partners in order to deliver search results pages, we do so in an anonymous manner.
• Making use of widgets can expose limited information about you: You can choose to add the Greenback Search widget to a website, blog, Facebook, or other online services. When you do so, the number of searches that you've performed and the resulting carbon offset is exposed to others.

We actually don't have much information about you anyway. To use Greenback Search, you needn't tell us anything about yourself. At your option, you can associate your number of searches and your carbon offset with a username of your choosing. If you choose to invite others to use the service, Greenback Search will store your reply-to email address in order to eliminate future typing.

Uses of email addresses:

• When you provide the email addresses of individuals that you would like to to invite to use Greenback Search, the only thing those email addresses are used for is to send an invitation to join and use Greenback Search.
• When you provide your email address for use in invitations to join Greenback Search, Greenback Search uses them as a "reply-to" and "from" email address in the email invitations. There are two other potential uses for your email address when you provide it to Greenback Search. 1) Greenback Search may reach out to you with questions around how to improve our service. 2) Although we do not anticipate launching a newsletter, if we ever did, we'd send our first one out to your email address with a prominent opt-in.

Information collected and used by our partners: Anytime we send you to a partner's website or display components from a partner on our website, our partner has the ability to place cookies on your browser. For example, if we refer your search to Google, which then displays a search results page, then Google can place a cookie on your browser and access any cookies that they might have previously placed on your browser. When Yahoo or Shopping.com displays ads on our pages, they also have the opportunity to place cookies on your browser, which they can use to track and improve the performance of their ads.
